e-phem-er-al

/ɛˈfɛm(ə)rəl/

adjective
- lasting for a very short time

mainly used to describe the fleeting nature of things.

"We chuckle at the ephemerality of certain plants and insects,
joking about their short lives, their limited impact and their insignificant existence. Patting ourselves on the back with a feeling of superiority.

But we tend to forget, while we are busy crowning ourselves reigning champion on earth, we ourselves are chuckled at by our superiors. By the ones that were here before and will be here long after us.

And just like the fly is passing through our mundane everyday lives, we are passing through the mundane millenia, witnessed by rock, soil and ice alike - for all of which our entire existence is a mere blink of an eye."

'EPHEMERAL’ is a gentle reminder that we are not the host and we never were.

We are mere visitors passing through an everchanging enviroment. Lucky enough, to have discovered ways which enable us to travel through the flawless creations of wind and weather.

A gentle reminder that we aren't owed anything, especially not a certain amount of snow at a certain point in time.

We are just given the chance to witness what’s going on, given the chance to participate in the great dance.

Everything we see, every storm we chase,
every turn we feel, and every climb we face.
Every line we ski, every drop we land and even every jump we case.

We claim, we holler, we scream, we laugh. A glance back at the track we just put in leaves us buzzing at the bottom of our run.

Yet, none of it is ours to own.

Because when the clouds roll in to unload their heavily laden backs, our prints vanish and the canvas goes blank again.

Sometimes it‘s a matter of hours, sometimes weeks, but ultimately the storm always comes and nature always reclaims what‘s been hers all along.

It's a gentle reminder that this world we all know so well and love so dearly - exists - either with us, or without.
In the end it‘s us who decide if we are going to isolate ourselves, or if we want to pay attention and be part of it.

So I ask you, are you going to shut yourself out,
or are you going to open your eyes and dance?

thank you.
